The Large Hot Pipe Organ consists of 20 pretuned pipes with a diameter of twenty six centimeters and heights from 3 to 10 meters. Sound is made by propane-air detonations inside the pipes, controlled by computer. Homsy developed a set of MIDI responders and other special sooper-sekritª hardware to enable direct keyboard and computer manipulation of the instrument.
